Gaspari Innocent

 Forced to flee the Congo because of human rights violations by the Nyamurenge rebels Gaspari Innocent is now sponsored by Educate! to attend Rubaga Medical School in Kampala, Uganda. An Educate! student since 2005, Gaspari is currently working towards a diploma in Laboratory Technology, and hopes to one day become a doctor. To this end, he volunteers in the laboratories of nearby Health Centers.

Gaspari’s father is 105 years old and in Gaspari’s words: “I am last boy in my father’s family. And I am only who reached this far with education, so all eyes are on me.”

Gaspari hopes to one day offer the same educational opportunities Educate! provides him to other students. To him, Educate! demonstrates that “Friends are many here in Uganda and outside Uganda and Africa at large.”

Gaspari helps mentor some of the younger Educate! students. In his spare time he enjoys playing football, visiting new places, and listening to Gospel.
