Leon Hategekimana

Leon Hategekimana is in his final year at the Catholic University of Kabgayi in Rwanda, where he studies Sciences and Development Techniques. 

Leon is one of only two Educate! students from Rwanda.  His family suffered during the Rwandan genocide in 1994, when he lost his father. Afterwards his uncle was able to support him for some time until, tragically, he died unexpectedly. With nowhere else to turn, Leon now looks to Educate! to complete his education.

In spite of his difficult past, Leon is an extremely kind young man with a large heart and high spirits. Leon wants to become an urban engineer so that he can help rebuild his country after the genocide. He enjoys basketball and playing the piano.
