Mentors

Educate! mentors are highly qualified recent graduates of univerisities in Uganda who complete a rigorous selection process and three-month, full-time preparation called the Induction, before being placed at Educate!’s partner schools to lead the Experience.

Selection Process

Educate! recruits mentors from major universities in Uganda. From a large pool of applicants, Mentors are chosen using an innovative, three-phase selection process that tests the applicants’ ability to write, think, and act on the key concepts of socially responsible leadership, social enterpreneurship, and mentoring.

In 2009, only seven mentors were selected from a pool of over 200 candidates.

Mentor Induction

A focused three-month, full-time preparation that Mentors complete before being placed at Educate!’s partner schools to lead Scholars through the Experience. The Induction consists of five units (team building, teaching strategies, Educate!’s leadership curriculum, community leadership, and mentoring) and conveys a deep understanding of the values on which Educate! is built (personal leadership, innovation, ethical action, powerful relationships, and exponential empowerment).
