Teachers are turnkey players in the curriculum reform, which is why we’ve invested in building their capacity through continual professional development. We do this by:
-Conducting regular training workshops, in conjunction with Akazi Kanoze
-Holding “Mock” days where teachers practice Skills Lab delivery
Exchange Visits are the core of our innovation in Rwanda. They give teachers an opportunity to visit each other’s schools to see the innovative ways their peers are putting the new curriculum into practice. These visits accelerate the uptake of competency-based pedagogical practices through accountability and learning, while also providing coaching and professional development opportunities.
Youth Leaders are our frontline workers in Rwanda. They are on-the-ground support for school administration, teachers, and students and help ensure that the new curriculum is successfully adopted. Each of our Youth Leaders is responsible for:
- Monitoring to ensure program delivery and quality
- Mentoring and Skills Training: Mentor entrepreneurship students in business development and train them in product-making.
- Exchange Visit Support: Youth Leaders attend Exchange Visits to guide teachers through feedback sessions.
