Scholars
Students in our program—whom we call Scholars—are teenagers in secondary school (the equivalent of high school in the United States). Scholars receive leadership, entrepreneurship, and workforce readiness training, as well as mentorship to set up real businesses at school and in their communities. Equipping our Scholars with the skills to succeed is the core of our work and what our model is built to do.
Associate Teachers
Educate! selects the most innovative and engaged teachers at each partner school to be part of our mission for transforming education in Africa. These teachers join our Experience Association to build a community of practice and learning around skills-based education within each school. Educate! Associate Teachers introduce global best practices in their own classrooms, and lead school-wide components of our program, such as Student Business Clubs, peer mentorship events, and community service days.
Mentors
The Educate! Experience program is run by youth for youth. An Educate! Mentor delivers our training, mentorship, and student business support through weekly lessons at partner schools. Educate! Mentors (many of whom are graduates of our program) are from the local community and have practical experience running small business or community projects. Mentors are trained to use a mentoring approach to facilitate skill-building experiences for their Scholars. In addition to teaching our leadership, entrepreneurship, and workforce readiness course in partner schools, Educate!’s Mentors also participate in our Youth Business Experience. Through this program Mentors receive continued skills training, connections to local partnerships, and stipends to serve as capital injections for their businesses.
