What to do if you can’t make a meeting at Educate!

Meetings run best when we actually know who’s in the building. Otherwise, we tumble straight into the corporate twilight zone: people glued to their screens, silently panicking—do we start… or do we wait? 👀

Here’s the truth: you’re going to miss meetings. You’re going to be late sometimes. Life happens. No scandal. The only hard rule? Don’t ghost. Drop a quick note so we’re not out here holding a vigil for your Wi-Fi.

Here’s What To Do If You Can’t Make a Meeting…completely/on-time:

1. If You Can’t Make It → Tell the Host (Directly!)

RSVP’ing “No” is not enough unfortunately because RSVPs don’t reliably alert the organiser, which means they may still plan the meeting around your presence.

✔ Aim for 2 days notice (if life allows)
✔ Send an update or delegate a substitute team member
✔ Suggest next steps if needed

2. If You’re Running Late → Communicate ASAP

Being late happens. Being late without warning is - simply not cool!

Rule of thumb:

2+ minutes late? Give the team a heads up and drop an ETA.

Example:

“Running 7 min late — please start without me!”

Small message, massive time-saving energy.

Why We’re Doing This

We’re trying to build a culture where we 😌:

  • respect each other’s time

  • make decisions faster

  • avoid awkward waiting rooms

  • and keep the momentum moving
